I’m Nicole Dyehouse, founder of planeKrafty.
Before this was a company, it was a folding table next to a pallet of boxes on the maintenance floor. That was the records room. I was the records person — stacking bins, unstacking bins, hunting for one 8130 on a wheel assembly while the rest of the shop kept moving around me.
Twenty-five years as an A&P will teach you that the paperwork matters exactly as much as the airplane — and gets treated like it matters a whole lot less.
I’ve watched records staff get treated like overhead — short-staffed, working out of binders and scanned PDFs, asked to prove years of an aircraft’s history in an afternoon because a sale or a lease return suddenly needs it. Nobody budgets for the records room until a conformity check, an aircraft transition, a maintenance-history pull, or a deal forces the question.
I built planeKrafty to address the fundamentals of record keeping and to leverage that information for the safety of the industry at large. Aviation is a serious business and deserves a product that meets the moment with the full power of today’s technology.
planeKrafty turns fragmented aircraft maintenance records — logbooks, 8130s, 337s, AD compliance history — into one searchable digital record.
Because I’ve been on the other side of the folding table. Every feature starts with a real problem I’ve either lived myself or heard from someone doing this job right now — not a feature list dreamed up in a product meeting.
Once an aircraft is conformed, it should stay conformed. Not conformed today and a question mark again in six months because nobody kept checking. planeKrafty analyzes an aircraft’s full history, then keeps reviewing every record that comes in afterward against that same standard — so when a sale or a lease return comes up, it’s ready for that moment instead of a scramble to get there.
There’s a bigger picture here too. Once an aircraft’s full maintenance history is actually accessible in one place, it doesn’t just answer today’s question — it starts surfacing the trends and solutions across that history that we’ve never been able to see at scale before.
